The information technology symposium intially began as an outreach function of the IT Council in 2017.  The symposium serves as an opportunity to connect with folks from around campus to discuss and learn about technologies being leveraged, both in a service role as well as a tool of research and education.

Distributed Computing Support Symposium

The Distributed Computing Support Symposium, or DCSS, serves primarily as a vehicle for the Division of IT (DoIT) to provide updates regarding initiatives and activities.  DCSS is held in the Fall and Spring terms of each academic year.
Materials from DCSS sessions are available from DoIT.

IT Service Catalog

The IT Service Catalog, a service of  Information Technology Experience & Engagement (ITE²), is a resource to highlight and define services available to the Virginia Tech community.  Services are inclusive of those available from the DoIT as well as departments around campus.

If you have a service, requestable or not, you'd like to see made available for your department, employees, or the entire Virginia Tech community, please connect with your ITC representative.

Sys Admins/SysOps Group

This is an informal monthly gathering of folks responsible for System Administrator/SysOps, lead by Denton Yoder.  A google site is available to employees that maintains a collection of information useful to tasks related to the diverse activities related to being a System Administator in the academic and research environments at Virginia Tech.  Notes from those meetings are also available.

Tools/Services

Here is a list of tools and services we have "collected" that we find useful for IT professionals.  Please also refer to the Sys Admins site for a collection of tools highlighted there.
